A performance evaluation allows the Don't Be Frantic Computer Services team to determine what options are available for upgrading your computer, a group of computers, or an entire network. We will profile each computer, recording information about its processor, speed, memory, hard drive, networking devices and overall upgradeability.

Security Evaluations
Our security evaluations are designed to flag the most frequent configuration issues which can expose today's Windows PCs and Macintoshes to hacker attacks. We will ensure that your virus-protection software is up-to-date and configured correctly, install the latest Microsoft and Apple Security Updates, and verify that all non-essential network services are disabled. Also, we will discuss your password policies and activate firewall protection if desired.

Software Troubleshooting
If your PC is frequently displaying messages such as "The application has performed an illegal operation and has been shut down," or your Macintosh is "crashing" or "freezing," you're probably running an old version of Windows or Mac OS. Don't Be Frantic Computer Services can help you minimize the problems associated with these systems, and help you transition to newer, more stable operating systems such as Windows 2000/XP or Mac OS X 10.2 "Jaguar," if your computer supports them. Even if an operating system upgrade is not a viable option, most software problems can be solved using the techniques we have developed.

Don't Be Frantic Computer Services is available to install newly purchased application software. We will use our Internet resources to ensure that you're running the most recent release of the software: vendors release updates that correct critical issues discovered after manufacturing, but these updates rarely are included in off-the-shelf packages.

Operating System Upgrades
The latest operating systems from Microsoft and Apple, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Mac OS X are clearly superior to their predecessors, and it is in everyone's best interest to move to one of these platforms as soon as possible. We will use the information gleaned from a performance evaluation to determine whether your computer(s) can run the new operating systems, what upgrades would make the experience optimal, and determine whether your existing software and peripherals are compatible. Once you purchase the operating system upgrade and any additional items, Don't Be Frantic Computer Services will perform the installations, testing and training to ensure a smooth transition.

Is your computer performance not meeting your expectations? If so, a performance evaluation will tell us the aspects of your computer performance in most need of improvement. In many cases, simply purchasing a new, faster hard drive and adding memory will make your computer feel new again!

Hardware Troubleshooting
If you've already ruled out software problems as a factor in computer difficulties, it's time to look deeper. Don't Be Frantic Computer Services can assist you with testing your hard disks and RAM. If something is failing, we can help you procure replacements and install them as necessary. However, we are unable to do component-level repairs at this time.

Backup System Implementation
Your best defense against any type of computer problem is a well-developed and executed backup strategy. We will recommend the storage device which will best meet your needs, then create an automated backup strategy using the best backup software available - Retrospect, by Dantz Development Corporation.
